A Word From The Founder

Honey you're home!  I'm Claire, Sexed-Up-Atheists.com founder and ex-pat Brit living in Beacon, New York.  Welcome to my little online den of atheist iniquity; introductions for infidels, atheist networking and romance for free-thinkers.  I hate the turn-key "atheist" dating sites that I find in searches for "atheist personals", ugly, boring automated spin-offs of much larger dating networks.  Sexed-Up-Atheists.com, which went live in October 2008,  is a labour of love.  A finger up to organised religion, it's a 100% FREE personals service for every atheist, pantheist, skeptic, agnostic, pagan, bright, humanist and non-religious free thinker who aspires to find a like-minded friend, social network or lover to call their own.  I've even coined a new collective noun for our community:  A Denial of Atheists.

For most of my life I've felt incredibly uncomfortable with organised religion and pretty marginalised because of it.  David St. Hubbins, singer with magnificent spoof metal band Spinal Tap, voiced my dilemma:   "I was sort of picking up bits and pieces of any eastern philosophies that happened to drift through my transom."  All I knew was that when I watched programmes about cosmology, looked at the images of deep space from the Hubble Telescope and learnt more about quantum theory,  I got the same sense of wonder and humility that I imagine a believer might experience.  I bought up Amazon's entire science catalogue in my own search for home, and at very long last I opened up The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins.  On reading his definitions I cried with relief, because one fitted like a glove.  I identify as a pantheist.   Dawkins describes Pantheism as “sexed-up atheism.”, hence the name of this site.  Of all non-religious traditions, Pantheism - the approach of Einstein, Hawking and many other scientists - is the only one that passes the muster of the world's most militant atheist.  So what's the difference between Atheism and Pantheism? As far as disbelief in supernatural beings, forces or realms, there is no difference.  Pantheism also shares the respect for evidence, science, and logic that's typical of atheism.  However Pantheism goes further, and adds to atheism an embracing, positive and reverential feeling about our lives on planet Earth, our place in Nature and the wider Universe.

That's me, but how about you?   Tell us all about yourself and who or what you seek by filling in your profile and sending us your photo.  You can read all about atheism, watch fascinating videos and leave us a message via our Shout Box without joining.  To participate in our online personals and networking community, browse our Member Profiles and use our Member's Forum and Chat Room you'll have to become a member.  So what are you waiting for?  Divine inspiration?
